1）Supermodel Joins Hands With City Government to Protect Children’s Mental Health

臺北市政府×志玲姊姊與您一起守護兒少心理健康

We’re kicking off our news segment this week with Chiling’s joint collaboration with the city government to protect children’s mental health.

The former supermodel’s Chairity Foundation: The Lin Chi-ling Charity foundation, has launched the “Xinling Guardian Program”, that offers a series of courses designed to help children and adolescents develop self-awareness and psychological resilience.

The program launched on August 20th, and Mayor Chiang expressed his gratitude to Lin Chi-ling for her commitment to mental health issues.

This program aims to provide diverse and accessible psychological care to the citizens of Taipei, not only focusing on the mental health of children and adolescents but also extending support to those who work with them, including caregivers and parents.

According to mayor Chiang:

Taipei City Government aims to actively protect the mental health of its youth, enhance the social safety net, and ensure a brighter future for all children and adolescents.

2）Youth and Senior Employment Expo Features AI Experience and Job Redesign Zones

青銀就業博覽會 AI體驗及中高齡職務再設計展區

Next on： The Taipei City Government will host the "Youth and Senior Employment Expo" on Saturday, August 31, from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Expo Dome in Taipei Expo Park.

A total of 194 top companies will be recruiting at the event, offering nearly 10,000 job opportunities with an average monthly salary of NT$39,000.

The event will feature an AI experience zone, where attendees can interact with smart technology to better understand themselves and showcase their strengths before attending official interviews.

The Taipei Employment Service Center added that the top three industries recruiting at this event are "accommodation and food services," "wholesale and retail," and "manufacturing."

Among the companies offering the most job opportunities are Thai Town, Ever Rich, Cashbox KTV, and Unimicron Technology.

For job seekers needing child care, free services for children aged 3 to 6 will be available at the event.

3）"Hakka Culinary Language: Contemporary Art Exhibition in Taipei"

客食語，北市客家飲食當代藝術展 8/23開幕

On a lighter note: The "Hakka Culinary Language: A Contemporary Art Exhibition" launches Friday, August 23, at the Hakka Cultural Center on the 5th floor of the Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park.

This exhibition uses the vocabulary of Hakka culinary culture as its central theme, exploring how Hakka culture is passed down and how newcomers integrate into the Hakka context. The exhibition invites the public to experience the rich fusion of "traditional Hakka," "contemporary Hakka," and "Hakka in the future" through multiple sensory perspectives, including sight, touch, and sound. The goal is to uncover the depth and contemporary relevance of metropolitan Hakka culture in Taipei.

The exhibition begins with the rich vocabulary of Hakka cuisine, covering nouns for ingredients and traditional dishes, verbs describing different cooking methods, and adjectives used to depict tastes and smells. Through various artistic forms and media, visitors are invited to explore these linguistic expressions of Hakka food culture.

4）Taipei Recognized Globally for New Year's Eve Celebrations

You’ll be happy to hear in our next piece of news that Taipei has been ranked as the second-best city in Asia for nightlife and the 12th best globally by the renowned British cultural magazine, Time Out.

The magazine praised Taipei’s nightlife for its "balance," noting the wide variety of nighttime activities available, including night markets, bookstores, KTVs, gastro-pubs, and nightclubs, catering to people of all ages.

Taipei has also gained international recognition for its large-scale events, particularly the New Year's Eve Countdown Party, which has repeatedly been listed among the world's top ten New Year's Eve celebrations.

Recently, a delegation from Sabah, Malaysia, visited Taipei's Department of Information and Tourism to learn from Taipei’s experience in organizing these major events.

The Sabah delegation's visit emphasizes the success of Taipei’s event, which thrives on cooperation between various government departments and partnerships with local businesses, hotels, travel agencies, and airlines to boost city tourism.

5）TRENDY TAIPEI To Launch in September

「潮」的「TRENDY TAIPEI潮臺北」9月即將開幕

Lastly, Taipei is gearing up for its first-ever "TRENDY TAIPEI," a week-long event from September 2nd to 8th, combining pop music, film and television entertainment, digital marketing, and the tech industry.

Mayor Chiang expressed his hope that "TRENDY TAIPEI" will help Taipei rise to the pinnacle of Asia's international cultural scene, positioning the city as a true cultural capital.

Chiang envisions "TRENDY TAIPEI" growing in scale each year, becoming a major annual event. The festival will feature cross-industry forums, inviting experts from various fields to explore collaborations in music, film, theater, design, and technology, fostering Taipei as an international platform for creativity and culture.
