    With so many beach stops, ya'll need to get a Shibumi sun shade. Game changer. And, it folds up great for storage. Way better than flimsy beach umbrellas.

    Grew up in Bradenton and AMI is indeed beautiful. But, if you are there in the winter, you may not consider it 'hidden'. There is a ton of traffic on the main road trying to get on/off the island. Try visiting in April, May, September and October to experience fewer people.

    After you finish in Ocean City Maryland, if you continue NORTH I highly recommend a stop in Lewes Delaware. You might get lucky and get a camping spot at Cape Henlopen State Park, which is a lovely campground with beach access. A visit to Cape May NJ via the Cape May – Lewes Ferry might be another beach to add to your East Coast beach stops. If nothing else, just a visit to the ferry terminal in Lewes for a great meal!

    Skip myrtle! Stop at Hunting Island State Park in Beaufort, it’s Gods beach!. Beautiful maritime forest/ beach. Only abou an hour from Hilton head.

    I have been visiting AMI since 1953 when I was 1–my grandparents loved it and took my parents there in 1952. It continues to be our favorite beach!
