    I agree with Jason!

Inaugurals are not always the best. I went through Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 on its opening day with all the baggage issues and bags weren’t loaded to the flight and didn’t get them back for 3 months. Let the facility bed in and get established.

I'm a 26 hour drive to Port Canaveral. Since I'm an 8-10 hour drive to an alternate airport. People think I'm nuts, but I plan to arrive in Florida 2 days before departure.

Sorry you missed it. My husband and son missed their flight, in the middle of winter from Toronto, and still got in a car and made it in 24 hours. No regrets! It's doable with two people driving for sure.

    Hmm
I live 30 minutes from orlando
    No storms here
    Although we need the rain

Did travel insurance help you for this cruise? Wasn’t it a free media cruise? Didn’t you get your money back anyway from the airline?

In 2019 we almost missed because of Hurricane Nicole. Luckily I was watching the weather and flew in 2 days early instead of 1. Waited the storm out in the hotel & we managed to go! The airports and even the port were closed the day before & the morning of

I am SO SORRY that happened to you two. We had to cancel a cruise this year due to a death in our family the week we were supposed to sail. Luckily we had Travel Insurance! We have learned over the past 35 cruises, just like you, that ANYTHING can happen. Hopefully you will get on the next inaugural cruise so you can share with us!

I know the feeling. A couple of weeks ago I was returning from our cruise in Europe and we missed the connecting flight. We were placed on the 7 pm flight from Newark to Miami and after spending 3 hours inside the plane trying to leave Newark airport, we couldn't because of a storm nearby. I watched movies (it was not hot inside the plane) for 3 hours. Then the Captain said that we were going back to the gate because there were 24 planes waiting to take off and the crew had finished their shift. Fortunately, they sent another crew to assist the flight and we finally left Newark after 11 pm getting to Miami at 2:20 am. It was a very long day and the good thing was that it was after our cruise, not before. It is important to fly 2 days or more prior.

we had tickets booked on Delta from a city in Asia to our destination in US. Night time flight, it got cancelled, no help from Delta, so we scrambled and got a hotel room for 2 nights not too far away (taking uber to and from). Since Delta's app did not work at all and we badly needed to get back to the US, we just finished 24+ hours in the air on Qatar airways (nice airline, better than any US line). Do you (or anyone here) know if travel insurance will pay for the cost of the qatar tix? or maybe the difference between the cost of the qatar tix and our delta 'e credits'???

It just was not feasible for us to sit around 3-5 days trying to find 3 seats (ideally together) on a subsequent Delta flight.

Sorry to hear your story, but at least it was only a 3 nighter you missed out on.

You live 13 hours and didn’t drive?

    So sorry this happened~

Always fly 2 days before cruise

Gave the video a thumbs up, but thumbs down that you had to miss the cruise!👎

Sorry this happened to you! We were looking forward to your review of the ship. My rule of thumb is to book our airfare ahead with enough time to drive to the port if something happens whenever possible. And for those times when it’s not possible, we have a blanket travel insurance policy. You are totally right saying that sometimes things are just going to happen and you have to be prepared to roll with it.

I live in Cape Canaveral and saw the Utopia Ship come in on its first day into Port Canaveral and yes, it’s a beauty! When flying into Orlando (MCO), late spring and during the summer…”Do not” book a flight that arrives anytime after 2:00 in the afternoon til early evening. The humidity builds up and it creates very bad thunderstorms. Ground crews can’t even be out in that weather. I have family that lives up north and I tell them, Do Not come in during that time. The earlier the better. A new cruise ship has to sail a few times to get the kinks out. You will end up having a better experience when you finally set sail. Keep the videos coming. You guys are “Rock Stars!”

Such a bummer! I was really looking forward to possibly seeing ya'll on there. I totally understand though. The same thing happened to me the day before from Dallas but our flight was finally able to take off about a 4 hour delay.

What airline was this b/c there are no direct flights out of AEX to MCO? I usually enjoy your videos but would hate to think yall embellish your content to get ratings

We had something similar January of this year but we did drive practically all night. I don’t remember why flights were canceled but we jumped into the car at 7 pm and drove from Indiana down to port canaveral. I did make
My husband stop at 2 am and if it wasn’t that it was an important family reunion cruise, we would have canceled the cruise. I wish we had as it was a Disney cruise and awful. Never sail with them again!

    glad y'all are safe

Who do you use for your travel insurance?

I’d be interested in how easy was it to get a refund due to having trip insurance

I should start taking out travel insurance on all my flights. At least yall only missed a cruise many more, I missed a once in a lifetime beach wedding in Florida 2 weeks ago due to the IT meltdown. Couldn't even drive it since it was just to many hours to drive.
