    Saludos… poco a poco…

You do realize that comparing Holbox island to Cancun is comparing Tombstone AZ, to San Diego?
Holbox island is 26 miles long and 1.5 or 2 miles wide. Cancun is like 800 square miles!! Of course, walking around an island is better than walking around a city,,,,,, You should have gone to Playa Del Carmen or Tulum instead. That is more of a walking around town. I lived in Playa for a few years.

Dont use the taxis, they can charge 10,000 pesos for a 30 minute trip and many influencers have documented that

Man, a backpacker going to Cancun is like a turist going to a national park expecting luxury experiences

Love the museum with the beautiful artist pieces & the carvings are fascinating. I love all the historical artifacts, the ruins are the only places I would be down for, feeling the historic background of these ruins is more dramatic to me, than all those fancy hotels & the crowds, thank you so much for sharing this

I’ve watched enough videos to know when you do something different with your hair 😂it wasn’t until you got back to hotel that I was all oh it’s back to normal 🎉 Also I hope you at least gave them ugly looks for pulling that hotel room switcheroo!

😊 Cancún is a designed city, it was planned just as it is: a tourist destination with only little more than 50 years of existence, so of course is crowded and expensive, it didn’t grow like any other Mexican town or city. Of course as a touristy spot it has its scams and abusive taxis so you have to be careful. That being said, I’ve been there +50 times and I love it, since I was young I had great parties there and now with family I’ve had fun vacations. I was expecting you not to liked it because you value other things and you doesn’t seem to like crowded places and that’s fine, everyone has different tastes and we must respect everyone’s opinion. Anyway, as always, interesting video.

Cancun is everything a midwestern American could want. It’s perfect for them, and hell for anyone else…. And it’s priced according to what American tourists would pay.

They even accept USD directly for payment.

I should add that just outside of Cancun tourist zone, there is a lot to see (history and nature) which ironically, most tourists don’t go see.

I've gone to Cancun many times, it does feel a bit of an artificial destination with not a lot of authenticity. The beaches are VERY nice however, and if all you want to do is lounge around and swim occasionally and maybe do some excursions, great. But don't expect deep interactions with locals or getting to know the culture necessarily. I think the only person you'll end up speaking in-depth with outside of your travel group will be an overly fancy sales person trying to get you into a time-share. Most of my trips there were with my folks as a teen, but I did end up going to Playa del Carmen a couple times later recently which has more of an organic city vibe than Cancun. I think if I end up going on a tropical vacation ever again, it would probably be Puerto Vallarta again as an adult either with friends or solo. Honestly, I'm kind of done with tropical vacations, I prefer doing photography in scenic cities and exploring restaurants and museums/architecture and have had FAR more fun in Guadalajara, Zacatecas and Mexico City.

Cancun is overdeveloped. I went there for the first time in the early 90s and it was already packed with tourists but mainly Mexican. Ten years later I came and was shocked of how much more developed it was to the point that you were not even able to see the beach from the main road. Is packed with tourists from everywhere. A lot of drunks and not that naturally beautiful as it used to be. Now with the train I can only imagine how much more developed it is.

I actually like Cancun, but farrr away from the tourist areas. The areas and beaches where the normal people spend their time are great like everywhere else in Mexico! Had some great days at the northern beaches, minibuses run everywhere, surprisingly decent food n all.

Just gotta avoid the gringo lands whatever you do!
