A metric that was probably overlooked or diminished is if the flying family with over an $100k salary is paying cash in full for tickets. Probably not.

Another annoying point I saw him bring up was his complaint that they don’t make a profit when we consumers redeem our points for travel. They make money when AMEX buys the points, and they make a profit when we swipe their Delta card. So either he never expected us to build up enough rewards to book flights or he and the bean counters don’t understand or chooses not to understand that we already paid our flights. We just didn’t redeem it till whenever date.
