Why is it that we always have to be the understanding ones when we go to other places and have to be knowledgeable of the cultures elsewhere. It works the same way here.

No. Coloured has nothing to do with appearance. It's not how you look. It's a calture. Coloured south Africans are mixed. Not black and white but mixed with all races. Indian black, Chinese, Malaysian, and mostly indigenous south African bushman and hottentots. Their calture is mostly foreign to most black Africans. They are black but fall under a coloured calture.

Tyla is is of Zulu, Mauritian, Indian and Irish descent. The term coloured was used due to apartheid to group races of people. Even though apartheid has been abolished for a few decades now the term is still used to describe people of multi-racial ethnicities. In the US the one drop rule was used during slavery and is actually still used today considering in the US you can identify as black as long as you have some blackness in you.

Tyla is coloured, we understand she wants the world to know that. Then why did she base her musical career (image, song, and dance) on black South African township culture mixed with that of African Americans? Would it not have been great for her to represent her coloured culture through her art as well instead of mimicking black people? Talk about exploitation when it suits you.
