I honestly quite enjoyed your video on Her Story. It's great that you're always thinking of ways you can improve; I just hope you don't feel too down when you identify those ways. And YouTube's algorithm being the cursed roulette wheel that it is, don't take any fluctuation in viewership personally – it hates everyone. It made my first video do very well just so it could disappoint me with every following video doing poorly. 😉

The final dance show is worth the 10 hours

Now that I am halfway through the video, I just wish Minsky was an actual movie.
That's EXACTLY the type of detective/thriller movie that I would LOVE.
Can't say no to a pretty crossdresser either, ngl xD

So this guy directed 6 movies to make a game? Talk about overperforming

I’m love this video. I tried to play this game but it was so overwhelming. The story is so good!

"I won't add any Valve OSTs, I'll just let it play" he says about what could easily be Valve's theme song.

3:44:56 – “Make it look like you’re F-ing him.” “Can she? If she’s the devil, can she change her shape?” – she’s not questioning whether demons are able to copulate with humans, she’s asking whether Matilda might be able to grow a D.

This video entertained me for a solid 10 days. So grateful to peacock for relieving me of the chore of finding a video to watch while eating 😭😭🙏

four is a reasonable and hinged number of times to have watched/listened to this already right

And please remember, Gary loves you

I was so antsy to watch this at work, but from the begining and the pinned comment i knew i HAD to experience it for myself first. After about 6 hours of actually playing the game myself i was so much more excited to watch this to see if your theories lined up with mine or not. Thanks again Flaw Peacock, youve turned me on to yet another hyperfixation 😊

I got to the credits of this last night and was SO confused and a little unsettled, so it was very nice to have a video to help me process it today.

Also Immortality is like the opposite of when a video game has pretty mediocre voice acting across the board and you're like, "Okay, everybody is so equally off that this has to be a direction problem."

Even when the acting isn't necessarily great the performances here are so universally compelling and on theme that Sam Barlow must be a great director.

Everyone PLEASE try this game yourself first.

You can get a ton out of it (and probably see the credits) in much less time than watching this video. If you are the type of person excited to hear FP talk about this for 10 hours then you will probably find Immortality be one of the best games/movies/multimedia/literature of all time.

If you've ever side-eyed Ulysses or Citizen Kane or Ocarina of Time and their fame, this is also your chance to actually experience something medium/mind/ground-breaking first hand rather than through foot-notes, history, and second-hand analysis; don't waste it.

And I'm not trying to say it's flawless or gas it up too much: you might find its mechanics a bit clunky or opaque and its narrative/pathos may not connect with you; that's okay too. Feel free to refund it and come back if you hate it. But like eg. Outer Wilds it's a shame to see people spoil themselves and trade a truly unique experience for a "neat video essay" (no matter good, as FP's stuff always is).

Coming back for like my fourth time watching, this has to be my favorite flawpea video yet

I wanted to say how I have been marathoning your videos, but I had a blast watching this through and through. I also love your skits so much.

Was that a Slay the Princess reference I heard there? If so, love it!

Her Story and this video have been some of my favorites so it made my heart sad hearing you say they were stinkers 🥺Keep following your heart and staying true to your style because this content is what genuinely makes people think and want to create

A major and really obvious theme I’ve not seen you mention so far (nearly 7 hours in) is the way women have been treated in film, how they’re seen as props by male directors they can use however they want in the process of making their art, and how these images are seen as more important and long lasting than the actual women who play them. To me the Immortals are symbolic of these dynamics having played out throughout history within stories – The One having played Jesus is an apt analogy for the way women are sacrificed for men’s art (like they say the act didn’t work like they hoped)

The plots of the films are fantasies about women being abused by men with power over them gaining the upper hand and destroying these men. In Minsky the themes are very obvious – the muse isn’t supposed to make art or have any subjectivity, she’s supposed to just inspire the great male artist. In the film the artwork she creates at the end is her doing to these two men exactly what they had done to her (Minsky by painting his idea of her and Goodman by consuming the work), turning them into hollow images of themselves in bronze, a very long lasting material. It’s telling that Marissa (and therefore The One) had a bigger role in writing Minsky and so tried to do to the men what they had done to her (and in turn what all men had done to all women)

2:47:47 my reaction every time The One shows up in any scene lmao. A little too much hammy acting cringe for me lol

The three films actually look pretty cool! Makes you wish they were real.

After rewatching this a few times… (please be aware of spoilers following!) I think it's interesting the "temporary" possessions being involved with apparent fleeting on-set romances, and yet the full possessions are with people who remain in each other's orbits for years. Not sure it it was intentional, but perhaps the immortals could also represent passion between people as well? Like how you brought up the Other One seeming like a toxic boyfriend!

The One lightly possesses Robert and Sophia at once, but you don't really see them being married or etc after the production. The One is just tasting the dalliance for fun but the two are ultimately apart in the end and seem fine despite the exhaustion on-set. The Other One possesses Carl during the Mitski production, who (Carl himself) is a bit more into Marissa and clearly is going too far into the One's and Marissa's spaces. Also getting into JD as well but maybe more as a way to force himself in Marissa's life. Eventually this toxic passion ends in his death.

Marissa and John are completely consumed by the One, and I'm pretty sure for John it is because he is completely consumed by his muse and cannot exist without her. Despite a toxicity between John and Marissa, they cannot be without the other but also can't seem to coexist at the same time. The One's possession is their relationship – far beyond the on-set dalliance or one-sided affections. It is a complete consumption of the other. In retrospect this all feels very obvious, but it's very cool the various layers of what everything means!

I have so many thoughts and feelings from watching this the last few days that I wish I had taken notes, tbh. Which more excuse to watch it again, I guess.

But one thing I absolutely have to say (with all the love possible in my heart) is that every time you talk about The Other One, Teen Gril Squad goes through my head and now the two are forever linked.

I NEED the song at the end as an actual music video 🙏🙏🙏
