The suburbs are not necessarily the hood in France. They can be if you go to some social housing estates quite far away, but a lot of the suburbs around Paris are individual homes exactly like in the US, or normal housing complexes.
I have never seen anyone jump over the metro gates, ever. No idea where you're taking that, there are controls very often in this city and the fine is severe, probably to make money off tourists.
I don't like at all how you seem to want to push that narrative about Paris, it's very noticeable in the video. I'm an optimist, so I focus on the good sides of Paris, and there are very many! -

Most countries in Europe had colonial empires, such as the Portuguese, Germans, Italians, Spanish, Belgians and Dutch. The colonial policy of the French was much less harsh on the natives than that of the English. For a few years now, Russia has been making its propaganda in Africa of bashing against the French with the means it is used to for its own personal interest, it's sad. It's a shame for you to have come before and during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Everything was secured to avoid attacks. You would have enjoyed it more the next day.

So this was one of the worst videos you have made and I have watched a ton over the years. Boring content. Why make a video that's 50 minutes long? I see the next is 1 hour! Break them down into 15 or 20 minutes, most people don't have an hour to watch a video. JMO.

French here True to what you said about colonial empire and why france is a prime destination for african immigration. I am always a bit annoyed by american "amazed" (in a bad way) by european imperialism. I mean, france (and england) did that, that was not right and we have to deal with that. At the same time you (americans) literelly built your country on genocide and slavery.
You said "intégration" didn't work, i'll say it's an ongoing process, but i know a place where it didn't work because it wasn't tried : the US of A where society as a whole is deeply racist where you have "black" communities, "latinos" (whatever that means) communities and whiote communities and so few multicolored families …
Even comparing french guyanais or réunionnais with porto ricans is misleading : on the one hand your talking about full citizen that will vote for Members of parliement , in referenda and in presidential elections (just as anyone else) while on the other hand you have second tier citizens with no right to vote in national elections …
I mean, ok france isn't perfect, by far. But all this veiled critisicm from an american is too much, talk about how bad america is (because it is bad in so many ways) before criticizing others that actually try to go in the right direction. -

I swear that thing moves around. The Eiffel Tower. Near the beginning when you said Sein river and then went to that image..I remember seems like walking up a hill past it, kind of apartment residential, where I have a pic of a clever motorcyle surrounding by plexiglass, sort of an interior for the weather, but there is an incline you cant see in the photo, probably perpendicular to the main esplanade. And I dont remember it being near the river at all, or I wasnt paying attention. I actually also remember what seemed like freeways or two levels, autobahns kind of going below the street and bridges right next to river, but they may have gotten rid of that. Felt really inhuman and cold (well, it was February).

Didn’t you say the Olympics were headed for Paris?! Of course there’s security. Did you see the opening ceremonies? Magnifique! The Seine was a major location for these ceremonies. All the Athletes rode boats down it.
I enjoy your videos but I think your expectations of Paris just prior to the Olympics are unrealistic. 🇫🇷
