    Fascinating. Never heard of him before while a million times of James Bond, Ian Fleming, Daniel Craig… (what a far shot from Sean Connery as 007!). Even more fascinating is the fact that by far most people almost think of those fictional personas as real while the real people behind them are always obscure. I have seen Sherlock Homes on Oxford Street, London. Haven't I? Of course, there are celebrities larger than life. Being around them would feel very different from what the general public believes they are.

    An interesting biography. Being married to Barbara Hutton must have been painful,…but benificial. Perhaps he enjoyed being blindfolded.

    THE BOOK THE ADVENTURERS BY HAROLD ROBBINS WAS PRETTY MUCH BASED ON THIS MAN LIFE AND TIMES. THE BOOK WAS A GOOD READ AND ENJOYABLE.

    Perhaps Harold Robbins was thinking of Rubirosa when he wrote his best seller “The Adventurers”. The Latin character Dax also played polo and raced cars. It’s possible that Ian Fleming had never heard of Rubirosa . James Bond did not play polo or race cars

    The guy was catnip to women. He was not very tall or exceedingly handsome but he managed to bed any woman he wanted. Porfi was able to rebound from a night of drinking and debauchery quickly. Reportedly he was hung like a horse and loved Ferraris.

    I'm such a lover of the bond films but never heard of him, he sure looks a bond guy. Sad he died so soon.
