Shearwater 🙌🤩😎
-
As a current Peregrine user this is the review I’ve been waiting for!
-
I noticed you’re diving an aqualung legend in those videos and not the dive Wright are you going to release a video on the legend
-
Just dove my Peregrine TX and loved it. Don’t need to add readers or go the prescription route to be able to read the display.
-
I have a TernTX and love it, the only viable alternative for my use is/was the PeregrineTX. Personal pros of the Tern: can wear it out of the water (surface intervals); nicer brighter screen with better use of real estate; quicker 4-button interface; steel case feels premium; screen-edge compass arrow is better. Personal pros of the Peregrine: feels indestructible; despite the wasted lower left corner (only shows the gas) the other 2 units can each show a mini-display containing 3 items = lots of useful info; battery life is better (through from experience the Tern is great too: 15 – 20, 1 hour dives using AI).
-
Bought a Perdix 2 Ti, haven't even looked at another.. and yes their customer service is amazing.
-
I got on the bandwagon early. Perdix AI was my first computer, and my 2nd computer. A peregrine lives on my scooter for easy depth and time.
-
I'd love to have this computer, but I wonder if it is worth it for me, I'm a newbie and only plan to dive down to recreational depths a few times a year, I find it a bit expensive, please,. Can any of you guys, who are way more experienced divers than I am, give me an honest opinion?
Thanks. -
Shearwater has the absolute best customer service I have ever dealt with. Great video!
-
6:20 Heheh yea that's me. My first dive computer is the Peregrine. Purchased it for a trip to Malapascua only weeks before the TX with its compass and air integration was announced. Prior to that I was a tables guy, then started borrowing a friends spare computer. Did a lot of research and bit the bullet for the Peregrine. Was happy to use it for only a day and a half until I got the flu and burned the weeks worth of dives. It was my 2024 dive trip of the year. To add a kick in the guts they then announced the TX 😞 You gotta take life as it is.
-
Solid review. Peregrine TX is awesome. Does the job incredibly well. Nothing more, nothing less.
-
Great video, Thank you James. 😊 I look forward to your content each week. Keep them coming! 👍
-
Thank you James!
Once more I share your opinion. The Peregrine TX is a beast.
I have around 100 dives on mine (oh yes, indeed the 2nd^^ i330r was the first) and I love it. As a DM, I can’t wish for more. Tank pressure, GTR, TTS and my SAC – rate ( isn’t it showing rmv actually? ) with a blink of an eye.
That just makes my daily diving.
Praise shearwater for that^^P.S. tried to charge it in multiple cars which had wireless charger for phones, works flawlessly
-
Expensive and not really viable for many casual recreational divers but THAT is a truly great piece of kit. Very impressive!!!
-
If you're planning to dive mixed gasses then I agree that you shouldn't bother with the Peregrine TX, but I do ADP dives (deco'ing on rich nitrox mixes) and bought a Peregrine exactly for that purpose (the TX wasn't available then and the £320 on top of the computer for the gas sender unit would have made it a non-starter anyway). It's fine for 'technical diving' at that level, which is as far as I will ever go.
-
Why not to use Peregrine for tech diving? It can handle 3 mixes up to 100% oxygen, calculates using ZHL-16C and can have GF set by the diver. Yes, no trimix support, but as far as I know tech diving is just a diving with multiple mixes (and/or with deco ceiling).
-
Thank you so very much for another great video. This thing goes straight to my musthavelist
-
I’ve been renting out dive computers since my DeepBlu Cosmiq died – all Shearwaters. I really like my Peregrine TX. The Tern is “sexier” but I wear an Apple Watch regularly.
-
Started diving with watch and max depth indicator on an SOS gauge, moved to Mares Puck, Cressi Leonardo, Mares Quad Air and now Peregrine TX….Oh La La….what an absolute beauty.
-
I have a question about the screen visibility underwater on the Peregrine TX. Is the screen too small?
-
8:48 I’m also not a fan of multi-function computer. 😂
Hence I got a garmin for flight/workouts/backpacking/travel, a seiko for business (also a dive watch), a Zoop for diving and a G-SHOCK for apocalypse.
Few years ago, I tried my dad’s Petrel 2, I just can’t back to my Zoop, those BIG COLOURED DISPLAY 🌝. Finally, I pre-ordered my Peregrine Tx from local shop, a day before the video release 😂🫢🙃. -
@DiversReady 9:04 James why you cant use Peregrine for technical diving? Example: technical decompression dive to 30 m/Ean32 with oxygen as deco gas.
-
Is the TX worth it over a standard Peregrine?
-
Thanks. Instructor here, diving for 30+yrs, but after having kids, diving is a side kick rather than diving 3 times a week as I used to. Bought a luna when they came out and my dad gave me his sol when he quit diving. Both are fully unlocked trimix and all. Do I used it
Nowill they still work after10 years from nowprobablydo I need a new dive computer….. hmmm after 20 years terra and sol something new would be nice. In a way I liked the peregrine 1 and its price, but was waiting for air Integration. Now it has it, I think, but my trimix and gimmicks…. and the price is now up there with the new smaller screen sol. Although that has been on the market for howmany years already? Will there be a sol3 shortly… I might drain the newly fit batteries over a few years and stay in the uwatec system with all my divelog. -
James I have seen several dive computer reviews from you including the shearwater Perdix 2 in which you state that it is exactly like the Perdix with only a couple of changes. You then go on to explain the changes. On every computer review you are adamant about the Perdix being the best computer on the market, but, I have yet to see a Perdix review . Why according to you (and many others im sure) is the Perdix the BEST!
-
I've had my P-TX for a month and love it. Can see the display even in wrecks (even with my old eyes). The gas intergration is brilliant, downloading to my logbook couldn't be easier (but I transfer across to Dive Log 6) and I know that IF something happens, odds are Shearwater's after sales support will see me through.
-
Fantastic thing is wireless charging is not proprietary. Any Qi charger will work! There are power banks with Qi chargers, some phones can do battery share and charge it, cars with wireless chargers will work. Don't have to bring a dedicated charger for this
-
Does it have Avelo mode?
-
Shearwater really does kill it. Thanks for the video
-
If not diving Helium what is the reason you can't use the TX for technical diving ??
-
What A r integrated dive computer is better? Suunto eon core or shearwater peregrine TX?
-
Just ordered a Peregrine Adventures Light, thanks to 1) your video and the support they give you, 2) their customer care proactiveness as I inquired about the program for laptop called Cloud, 3) their reputation from others about the service and 4) the very bad service I received from my local Suunto service center.
-
does sherewater peregrine TX have GF99 and SGF ?
-
G'day James, a very solid review of a very solid dive computer made by a very solid manufacturer, thank you for sharing. I dive with the Perdix AI and legacy Shearwater transmitter and could NOT be happier.
I'm trying to work out which G-Shock model you're wearing in Komodo with your Peregrine TX at approx. 2:50 in the video, can you help me out please mate? Cheers.
