Pretty women from almost 60 years ago, great music, hilarious stuff, too. 24:44 has to be an awesome bit from Redd Foxx. Never heard it before. Hilarious.

So sad what has happened to Black Ppl in this country. How Oprah, Crack, white feminism and Tyler Perry has turned Black Ppl against each other so they remain under the control of their slave-masters. Black Ppl can not do shows like this anymore.

This show was done in 1968 ask yourself , if you dare , when was the last time you saw a show like this where "Soul" or "Blackness" was celebrated with a mix of some of the top Black Male and Female talent?

    Judy Pace……..wow

This would have competed with their main show "Laugh In", so they probably didn't go forth with any further production. A Black version would have been cool. 😂

Great assemble with funny quotes and beautiful black women.. so much has changed in 56 yrs.. with everyone becoming ancestors..Memories frozen in time on film..

It's good to see this for those of us who were not around. It allows to see that things have not changed – and that's the way that some want i!! While social war was going on they still had us entertain like nothing was wrong outside of this.

Gregory Hines was a singer? All I knew him for was for being a tap dancer and an actor.

    The soul sisters killed it

The late 60's and the 70's were amazing times for black folks. Having lived through it personally… and comparing it to the present… I would say we went backwards.

The woman at 16:09 who sort of has a young Whitney Houston thing going on is Lili Clark…who became the first black regular on LAUGH-IN not long after this show aired.

    Soul Version of Laugh In

I see Joy Ribeiro’s name in the credits. I’m not 100% certain, but I believe she’s the second woman in the intro…with the Afro (after Annazette Chase). She’s got a pretty famous SON…an actor and dancer.

WOW! I don't remember this special when I was growing up! I'm glad that it was in my YouTube feed! I remember all of the artists that appeared in the special. I remember seeing Hines, Hines, and Dad on another TV show when I was little, and I also recognized Anazette Chase, Judy Pace, Chelsea Brown, and Renn Woods, the little girl who sang lead on "Tell Mama". I wonder what happened to them?
