Spain Speaks

I love how you keep the balance in the news (politics, environmental, protests). In ref to how much all the $ tourists bring into the country, I tried to be an adult to do my own research on how much illegal immigration costs the Spanish taxpayers each year. Strangely I couldn’t find it anywhere. So folks will protest against prosperity, but not about their future funding being taken up by those who’ve not earned it? Or are the citizens being kept in the dark?

did i just hear you correctly if they only offer cash in spain they are dodgy? Mate just say your an agent but dont call honest people dodgy it is an individuals responsibility to pay as little tax as possible since 400 years ago if you didnt pay taxes the king would send knights to collect your head but by all means call them dodgy

    What do the Spanish want?
    They do not want tourists,
They have problems with water usage for agriculture
So in reality how do they expect to earn money?

I was in Lleida, Spain a couple weeks ago. There is clearly an irregular situation going on there. Very surprising, since it is an inland city in Catalunya. One must go there to see it, seeing is believing!!!

IN THE Nederlands 1.500.000 in 4 years we are just 17.500 000 Dutch. In Spain 80.000.000. So what is the problem

Training is a joke! Provide actual industries which will provide the training for the workers.

Tourists not spots begged for visitors during covid, but now want them gone. Remember when Venice was sinking and countries around the world have billions to save the city. Now the city tells them to sod off. Nothings easy is it? 😄

Benidorm is a small, built-up area which generates huge income and thousands of jobs – it's tourists aren't depriving Spaniards of housing.

Stu it might help your listeners to get an understanding of the taxation system for employment, the high cost of taxation is a major factor in the level of salary and employment 😮

Armed forces against irregular immigrants but not enough resources for the border patrol against drug trafficking – just another scapegoat, now with the focus again on immigrants. What should the armed forces even do? Illegal Push-backs? That's what Frontex is for.

By the way Stuart, it's not irregular immigration, it's illegal immigration get it right 👍

Hola stu and guests. It turns out change has come to the uk via the elections. Regarding immigrants to spain, i remember the news of high unemployment becoming much lower. I wonder was that lower unemployment number being the result of counting unemployed spaniards or the number of filled jobs? If it’s the number of jobs filled, then perhaps they were filled by illegal immigrants. A false positive, maybe.

Over 38,000 in the UK so far this year.

But the Spanish people only worry about the tourists coming to spend money. Perhaps a change of priorities is required.

Benidorm smells like india in the 90's

You could fry dog poo in butter and it would taste nice, butter makes everything taste good I've always seen it as a bit of a cop out when I watched rick stein lobbing great lumps of butter in his fish dishes

BTW Benidorm is an absolute SHIT HOLE. The sweaty arm pit of Spain.

Why oh why can’t the Spanish government end the housing crisis and build some social housing, it’s the hotel association behind the crackdown on air bnb and illegal lets, they are our version of americas NRA …calling all the shots 😅

illegal immigration is a big issue everywhere in the West. Most are not asylum seekers but economic migrants. It's a bit ironic that the Spanish are against tourists bringing in billions but ok with illegals bringing nothing and, in reality, contributing nothing. Managed migration is always a good thing but now it's just a free for all.

Hi Stu, i'm just curious to hear all your reasons to why you think Benidorm is a 5hithole. I have been there a few times and i enjoyed my time there. Yes, it is saturated with British tourists, British themed bars and high rise apartments but it has nice beaches and pretty backdrop mountainous view. Benidorm was just a mall fishing village not too long ago. Maybe that would've been more palatable with the purists but then, we wouldn't have know about Benidorm.

Also some people sleep in their car as they have rented out their house to toerists..

There are 3 ways to overthrow a country, war, religion or illegal immigration which once in place will impact who eventually is elected to run the country. It’s happening elsewhere and Spain is on their list I’m sure. Kuwait just deported over 450 illegals because they understand the potential harm to the country. The west is seen as soft which is why 10s of thousands head north.
