I do have Global Entry and it is fantastic!

I have TSA Precheck but didn't have time to get Global Entry before a recent trip to Europe. Instead, I got MPC, Mobile Passport Control, created by US Customs and Border Protection. You download an app and set up an account with all your info, including your passport. When you return to the US, as soon as you have data access, you open the app, enter information on your flight arrival, answer a few questions about customs and send it. I'm in the Washington DC area. When we got to the Immigration and Customs arrival area, travelers with Global Entry, MPC and diplomatic passports were directed to specific lines. My partner had Global Entry and I was done well before him. And the best part, it's completely free. I have a new airline credit card that pays for Global Entry but I see no reason to go that route now that I have MPC. I was skeptical but it was amazing.

Usual USA elitism. Pay for service enhancement then reduce staffing on the borders. I gave up on travelling to AKL via LAX because the whole experience is a joke. Since Bush Trump the country really makes it clear that as an etranger you are not welcome

    Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the info! Do you have to do TSA and Global Entry? What's the difference, I have done neither.

Is this only for US residents and citizens?

My husband and I applied at the same day in September last year he was approved next day and unfortunately I’m still pending review. It’s so frustrating not knowing why. We are flying to Uk in July. Sure wish I could connect someone. I tried sending an email but only get thanks for contacting and will hear back. I don’t know if I should reapply with a different credit card.

Thanks. I’ve been looking to get my interview done for global entry for a while. It’s like you. A long way to go in and long wait to get a appointment. I’ll be doing this in August in Denver.

I have Global Entry, but also downloaded the Mobile Passport app. Upon arrival in the US, the mobile passport line was shorter than the global entry line. so best to check out both.

My wife did the interview after we arrived from Paris, it will be worth it. I did my interview in Miami while we were on vacation in December.

How does this differ from TSAPreCheck Enrollment? Should I have this AND Global Entry? Or maybe the TSAPreCheck Enrollment and Mobile Passport Control (as the commentor below me suggests)? What are the pros and cons of the TSAPreCheck vs. MPC?

You were lucky to get your conditional approval in 48 hours. I waited months for mine and I got my interview after an international flight. Luckily, I was the second person in line. I love having global entry. It makes reentry into the country a breeze.

This only works when traveling to the US, or does it work when arriving at foreign airports originating in the US?

I have TSA Precheck and love it! Just applied for Global Entry– waiting time is long– maybe not enough to get prior to fall trip, but hoping since I've already been fingerprinted, etc for TSA Precheck it will go faster.

Global Entry is terrific. I have had it for many years now – long enough to have renewed it at least twice. And one of the great perks is that when you get GE, you automatically get TSA Preâś“ with it!

It all depends on the time of the year even time of the day and the airport (most of the international flights come into the airport around the same time of the day). So it will be less stressful to book an appointment near where you live and can set aside part of the day for this. A few years ago ,it take almost a year for an appointment now it's down to a few weeks.

I have Global Entry and I love it. If you travel out of the country at least once a year it is worth it. It also includes TSA Precheck. Global entry is good for 5 years. Just plan ahead and if you consider taking a trip overseas apply early. Its kind of like getting a passport. Get it and worry about the travel part later.

I got my conditional approval back really quick, maybe a couple days(already had pre-check). The email just said to do the interview on entry back into the states, super easy.

I would love a video on how to use global entry, once you have it

How does this differ from Nexus? I fly in and out of Toronto and I am able to use my Nexus card to bypass lines entering and leaving the airport.

We've had Global Entry for many years and it has saved us many hours upon returning to the US. We were surprised to learn that Ireland recognizes Global Entry and in March, we noticed that France has signs posted in CDG that they will be recognizing it soon as well.

Great video! Thanks. We just booked our Global Entry interview and are looking forward to saving time after our international travels!

Great tip. I'm about 4 hours away from an interview location, so doing it on a return flight would be ideal.

Agreed with having Global Entry for returning. I did GE through the normal interview, but my wife was able to get the interview upon arrival after we returned from Jamaica — in fact, she got the conditional approval while we were on vacation. When we came back the following year from Europe at IAD, it was a relative breeze, We were one of three international flights that disembarked within five minute of each other, and the main hall had to have at least six hundred people. We went through in about 10 minutes.

I did that when I came back from Africa 🥰

My husband and I did it this way. Easy peasy.

Conditional approval sometimes takes months. My wife took 11 months to get hers.

Global entry sucks!!! We applied right before the pandemic, and for three years we couldn’t fly anywhere, finally, we decided to fly to Aruba, and on our way back we took a line for Global entry with no people in front of us. The “Gestapo” “lady” stopped us, yelling “Stay behind the yellow line until I call you” Three seconds later she called. Start asking what was in my hands, I told her nothing, just a snack and a sandwiches which we prepared for ourselves to eat while waiting at the airport in Aruba. She asked what's in it, I told her boiled eggs, cheese, and a slice of prosciutto. OMG, she treated us like criminals, took our passports, and made us sit in a room with other criminals who potentially tried to eat their kiwis and oranges. We sat there for over an hour, then had to ask another worker why we were sent there. He asked what happened and we explained, but we had no idea what that “lady” did. She took our global entry from us, we almost missed our flight to Miami, and I had a horrible crisis with my health due to not eating on time with my hyperglycemia. We had no idea 1. In Aruba, there will be a Us border. 2. A slice of prosciutto is not allowed in your sandwich, otherwise, you will be treated as a criminal 3. that it would make our flight home to the US miserable, humiliated and sick!
Even several years after, when we fly home from international, they keep us in the cell and inspect all our luggage still a few years later, isn’t that insane!

That’s a great video, thank you. I think I’ll just go through the hassle of driving up to Baltimore to get my interview done with my wife. I did it for Tsa Precheck.

Surprised ATL is not on the list
