I criticized you once in the comments for what I felt was being overly woke, but you make interesting and thoughtful videos and I come back. Thank you.

It takes a lot of time to collect all this info and images. Great job. While other YouTubers make some stupid jokes and get millions of likes. Not fair.

I love how you add other historical events alongside the main topic during the timeline. Very well done!

Cargo was always high in mind when then 747 was designed, in fact Boeing didn’t think there was going to be THAT much of market for passenger travel. The reason for the hump was to put the cockpit high up & have the pivoted nose to load cargo directly onto the main deck.

    Another excellent presentation…

you are the gold standard of documentary production– I'm amazed at the research you put into every video. Having worked at National and Eastern ; I couldn't believe seeing things I knew were true and deeply buried.

Ironic, a company that once was the America visit card was not capable to survive in a competitive environment.

You had me at the words rise and fall of. Another rise and fall was that of the world trade center. It is a good candidate for the Munger treatment. I remember September 11 2001 as if it were today.
I remember Islamist men easily infiltrated our flying schools and were never questioned even when they showed no interest in take offs or landings. I remember too how Islamaphobia became an epithet thrown at anyone the least bit suspicious.
Now pro hamas agents brazenly call for the downfall of Israel. They are anti American. JCH

Dear Esteemed Dr Munger I am only an egg.
    IF you recognize that line from a certain sci-fi writer Robert A Heinlein;
then, you are a kindred spirit. As I viewed this masterpiece of history instruction 4 July 2024
    I was glad and sorry.
Glad I found this story & sorry every history lesson cannot be made by your methods. Bravo

    Corrections:
    – The Pan Am building was on Park Avenue, not Fifth
    – The Pan Am cockpit crew in the Tenerife disaster survived.

The 314 clipper would have been mentioning. Tarzan took a 314 from Casablanca to Lisbon to New York.

What a great documentary. One small detail: the Lufthansa forerunner Trippe was worried about in South America was called "Scadta, Sociedad Colombo-Alemana de Transportes Aéreos" (Colombian-German Air Transport Societ) This cooperation later led to the founding of Avianca, the Colombian national carrier still operating today.

I remember PanAm, flew it in the 80's on the 747's… Wonderful experience….

Very interesting. Enjoyed everything you presented about Pan Am. Read an article just recently in Forbes dated July 6, 2024 about another relaunch of New Pan Am by using 757's and making it an all Business Class only from New York to Marseilles and New York to London. Want to get your thoughts and feelings about it?

Sean, you get an "A+" here. I am a retired pilot. I want to point out a common mistake. Copilots don't upgrade to the "pilot's" seat. They are all pilots, even flight engineers are pilots. The copilot (or first officer) moves up into the captain's seat.

I clicked this thinking this was a hunger games deep dive but boy am I here for the ride
