Something bad happens everyday. Are we just supposed to pause everything for a problem we can’t even solve? Like the nfl is still having the playoff…why are y’all tripping over a Trip that was planned out a year ago.
-
I’ll be blunt here. People who are upset with anyone in this situation are envious that others are having opportunities they could only dream of. What’s happening in LA is devastating. However, life does not stop when there’s a natural disaster. Everyone else in the country still has to show up to work and do what they need to do. Companies don’t have to donate money. Influencers don’t have to speak out. But these people are choosing to. Saying they should cancel a trip that is already paid for doesn’t do anything. They are still donating more money than most companies. It’s never good enough for people. People love sitting online at home and complaining about other’s efforts when half of them haven’t donated a dime. People hate on the wealthy (influencer or not) year round. But they crawl out of the woodwork to justify their hate anytime there is a natural disaster. It screams pathetic.

is the controversy in the room with us
-
and what about all the brand trips that have been going on during the g*n*c*de in 🍉? nobody’s going said anything about that. just bc the tragedy in la is more publicized/has a lot more media intention, doesn’t mean ppl have to stop living their lives
-
Sis, u look supa slim
-
I think what I would’ve done is not post the content yet
-
Idk how the wildfire has anything to do with this. They have donated and continue to help where they can. The world doesn't stop cause something happens. Also, I would never trust an influencer's word on a product when they get a 5 star trip to promote them 😆
-
I never understood how these trips ever benefit the company in terms of sales but I can see the brain recognition part of it.
I also think it is in poor taste to do it this time however as a business major I know that these things are planned out so far in advance that they probably could not have feasibly canceled and used the money as donations by the time that they would have wanted to.
Unfortunately in the business world it doesn't stop just because one state is having a natural disaster sadly.
And this is coming from someone that never uses tart because I do not like the brand. -
literally no one cares. i’m tired of brands trying to be woke. if they are making such a big deal out about this then no one should ever do anything because there’s always going to be unfortunate circumstances somewhere in the world but it doesn’t mean that people can’t go on trips or promote products
-
I have never once seen an influencer getting an entire trip for free that they can afford on their own and thought… yes I want to go buy makeup I can’t afford because rich people told me to
-
People only care when it’s Los Angeles ,, several places burn and/or flood all the time and no one bats an eye
-
TAAAARTE?? in soulja boy drakee voice MESSY??? SHOCKEDDD. (Not really)
-
Old heads KNOW to not go on the Tarte Trip
-
What do people want them to do 🙄 loose a bunch of money rescheduling the trip instead of donating what sounds like a shit ton of money? This girl complaining from inside her Porsche cayenne is actually too much for me 😂
-
I dont love brand trips but be so for real. Are we all just supposed to stop living our lives because now something bad is happening to influencers. Tragedies happen every day, and its horible but i can't just sit around and not live my life. "Maybe I'm just too empathetic" give me a break.
-
People need to give up. Maureen is basically a figurehead in Tarte since she sold her company. She doesn’t make the decisions she has to get approval. It’s not from her heart its a corporation getting a tax write off.
-
I think people are forgetting this trips are planned way in advance like cancel it for what they won’t get there money back things happen it’s the same like if you pre buy a fly ticket they day 9 times out of 10 you can’t get your money back
-
Wtf was Jake Webber doing there ?!?! 😂
-
Tarte really went above and beyond for this. It’s not their fault it timed out this way.
-
Didn't even know people had issue with it until I saw this post hahahaha.
-
I planned trip for a small corporation before and Trip that big usually been planned a year in advanced, got booked a year before or minimum 6 months before. People also forgot that advance payment exists, you cant just get your money back that easily. There's penalty. Also many business will lose their money if it's actually got cancelled, don't forget that they also need to pay their workers. The world is spinning. Tarte can't predict the future, we can't predict the future.
It's already so amazing that they're doing all these donation, that what we need rn. -
9:05 😭😭😭
-
There is a WAR happening right now! The world will carry on even if you're "too empathetic" while sitting in a luxury car after a NATURAL DISASTER.
I dont know about the rest of you but weather doesnt facetime me and say "hey! Just blowing through town from 12-15 January so dont go on trip planned months ago." Bffr
-
I feel like even if the trip was pre-planned, they could have had the influencers delay posting for like a month or two, like have them use the content to preplan content…the Tarte trips are dumb to me in general…it's always made me want to buy the brand less
-
There are way more egregious things going on in the world. Let's worry about the top 1%, that's where our biggest problems are. I don't care that these influencers got to go on a really cool trip, good for them.
-
Am I the only one who doesnt get why people are constantly bothered by things like this when coincidentally there is an unexpected tragedy? Is it heartless to say that unfortunately the world doesnt stop over tragedies? Are we all supposed to constantly stop over tragedies? Because if thats the case what about situations outside the US? People nitpicking and saying this is "tasteless" do realize that this is technically work for others right? That those who are actually focused on wildfires arent seeing their online complaints about how this trip is "wrong" lmao. It may sound heartless but the world doesnt stop nor do people stop working over every single tragedy out there. There are people who lose their loved ones and have to go to work and grieve at work the next day, thats the reality for some. And lets be real, if they were invited they would have gone.
-
I don’t recognize any influencer on the trip besides aspen but I don’t follow her so I had no idea she was on the trip until this vid. Besides the LA fires timing (which is just wild to me) I think tarte is better off marketing how every other makeup brand does
-
People act as if the world is supposed to stop because LA is on fire as if Americans don't always complain abt air quality when British Columbia and Alberta go up in flames every year and decimate entire cities/towns. Oh so Americans can joke about our air quality but life must stop when LA is on fire? I emphasize with the victims of the LA fires so much but the double standards are getting ridiculous.
-
So should I have been upset when I seen influencers on brand trips when I was getting hit back to back with hurricanes? I’m just confused, because obviously this was planned a year prior…Why does drama always have to surround the tarte trips. This is just crazy🤦🏼♀️
-
They said the trip was planned a year prior. Tart took this bad timing to help those who are suffering or in need during the fires. Like literally all of the proceeds and so many donations/work to help came out of this trip. No one was being selfish by going in the end. It’s odd how people are just automatically so negative even after seeing what good was done. Im not a fan of tart trips in the past but this is the best one Ive seen.
-
I mean yeah the timing is awkward. But her donating is good. Bigger fish to fry right now I think
-
Do people not understand this trip was planned a year in advance? Deposits were made. Maybe partially already paid for?
-
I know Tarte always seems to have some sort of controversy around their trips but this one seems to have a larger theme of giving back. Which I would count as progress. What a lot of people don’t seem to realize is these trips and travels are booked far in advance and with money that is often not refundable. So the ability to cancel is usually far more wasteful and not an option than if they continued as planned. At least this time the conversation was had with all involved about giving back and backed with an action plan. I’d say from a business standpoint this is the least controversial trip by far. No one could see or plan for such a huge natural Disaster and really if they did nothing would ever happen cause it seems the world has been facing soooo many unprecedented disasters. That’s my thoughts on it all. I’m just glad it’s all encouraged conversation on giving back with actions bro g taken.

This doesn’t make me ever want to buy their makeup. Never have, never will.

You know what's tone deaf? Everyone being silent about the genocide over the last 15 months that has left an estimated 200,000 murdered and 95% of homes destroyed in the Gaza Strip. Since they care about the World Cental Kitchen maybe some influences can talk about the WCK aide workers that were targeted and killed by Israel in a marked vehicle. This selective empathy is disgusting. Israel has already broken the ceasefire killing a child on Rafah, and is attacking Jenin in the West Bank at this moment. Palisades and Palestine are both tragic, but our society act like some lives are more valuable than others. Society acts like a natural disaster is more valid of empathy than the genocide, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid of Palestine.
-
“Theme is a fart on fire” 🔥
-
People get so upset about things that are none of their business! Literally! America thinks that because there was a fire going on that the whole world should just stop. Don’t get me wrong it’s devastating….but that doesn’t mean that people can’t still go on vacation or a celebrity can’t just make a “normal” post without huge backlash about being “tone deaf”. None owes LA anything. This world is so ridiculous and so entitled!!
-
My question is what is everyone complaining about it doing to help with the fires. Tarte already had the trip planned before it happened. And donated to help. The name of the one night could have been a dedicated to what was happening too. Everyone is so sensitive. What more are they supposed to do. And what are you doing before you attack me in the comments.
