I guess it depends where you live and your lifestyle.
-
I've been living here for many years, I live in option A and option B, with and without family. Let's face it, it all depends on where you live in the Dominican Republic, because the cost of living can be higher in certain areas. Punta Cana is not for everyone, neither is Santo Domingo. The way you talk, you should have stayed in the US and chosen option B. I'm from Miami your option B is my lifestyle. Anyone coming to the Dominican Republic do your research by listening to your budget. Number one if you going to rent don't pay no more then 20 to 30% of your monthly income on rent and that's even included with family and without. I lived all over Dominican Republic now im in Mao monthly costs for everything restaurant gym rent yearly car insurance medical insurance home internet and cell bill ,electric bill ,water bill ,garbage disposal bill, food the total cost of living 1,000 a month . So it all depends on your location and still enjoy life. Don't relocate to be more in debt because you listen to some youtube guiding you to live a certain lifestyle here in Dominican Republic. Most youtubes live in a bubble in Dominican Republic behind the gates and in apartment building with high security. Most of them doesn't even know where Mao is in DR.
I forgot to mention if you going to rent your best bet is to rent empty apartment . Why I say this?
Ok before spending any money on anything I choose to purchase all my furniture that cost me $8000 to 10k. It is alot cheaper option of course but I chosen furniture to last longer than average. So this of set the cost of fully furnished apartment. -
I definitely see what your saying Jamie 👍

Jamie I also moved in 2022 and I’m your neighbor

Even with plan B the DR dream is well alive 🔥 USA is just insane right now

Hello Jamie! I really enjoy your videos! What is the best way to communicate with you? I have a business in Bayahibe/Dominicus, and I would love to explore collaborating. Also, I have another question that I would prefer to talk about privately.
-
Can you make a video on vista Cana a where you think it’s headed as far as development?
-
I think it's important for people to know that the information you provide in your channel is extremely accurate and sincere. My wife and I decided to move to the Dominican Republic from the United States. We have watched every single one of you videos and many of them several times. After five trips to the Dominican Republic to see for ourselves like you always recommend we have decided to make the move in July. You helped us to decide where we are going to live and what to expect. Thank you so much! We appreciate you.

What happen with your car

Totally agree. Living as a single person for life sure, but with a wife or girlfriend and kids… Forget get about it!
-
Thank You @Jamie Because of you I’m learning a lot about Punta Cana and Dominican Republic in general. Benn there twice so far and my wife is from DR like yours same situation came to US at 13, and I am looking into moving to Dominican Republic within two years or less preferably. Looking into different areas outside of touristy areas. So Again Thank You brother!!

Great analysis, thank you! I do think if you come here and live a typical, consumer-oriented American lifestyle that doesn't disambiguate between what's really a need and what's a want, you'll burn a lot of cash here. Microwaves, iPads, and iPhones, etc., things like this aren't really needs for most people. $1000 in food seems excessively high to me, even with kids (in my case, anyway). And enjoying DR doesn't automatically entail spending a lot of money—there's lots to do that's inexpensive or free. I think if you really work to understand your needs vs. wants, budget accordingly with a "fun" fund and an "emergency" fund that you add to as long as you aren't using it, most people can live on far less here than just about anywhere in the US. Mostly (imho) it's about training yourself to stop thinking like an American! 🤣 Don't buy brand name, processed food products, buy actual food from farmers and make more things, don't buy imported stuff, do local things with local people, etc. A lot of this is just subjective personal choice, though. What's comfortable for one person might be uncomfortable for someone else.

Where are you getting fruits and veggies without pesticides? Lol that doesn’t exist here, buddy

Of course…if you pay for a gym more than 95% of Dominicans pay for rent

I am currently in punta cana planning on moving here VERY accurate video

1k a month for food!!! That’s way too much, I’m thinking of moving there with 2k a month, I believe that’s more than enough, I hope I’m right
