I knew this guy from The Wag club, ( midweek was the best time to go ) out in London before House was wasted on the mainstream public and Ibiza.
Trevor used to throw down some serious disco boogie for the dancers.
One of the pilar’s of the British underground dance scene

It's interesting but the root goes a lot deeper, Trevor represents a branch that became a more popular, maiinstream culture. He refers to what was broadly known as the Soul Mafia, which itself, was not the root, nor underground. London was indeed more captivated by highly developed and musical forms with great pedigree, diseminated through pirate radio, soundsystem culture and even Radio London. No etiology can completely capture culture because it derives itself from disparate influences, part of that is the writing history in one's own image, when one rises to prominence. In truth, this mainstream culture largely birthed its own icons an ameliorated those more interesting.

from everything I've heard, read and seen about the first english djs that went out to ibiza is that they didn't act like brits abroad, they weren't aggressive, they weren't objectionable, they didn't let their egos ruin other peoples experiences, they went out there they were respectful and they got a lot out of it, fair play because in those days groups of brits abroad had a terrible reputation

Is anyone going to mention to Lenny his 421 isn't even pointed at his mouth?
After getting to where Trevor is explaining the Ibiza trip and then coming back and having pack nights almost immediately, he (and many others) gloss over the elephant in the room that the combo of Ecstasy and the music is what created the explosion.
Nothing like some wide eyed punters regailing their mates about the best night they've ever had to pull more people in.
At this point its fair to suggest Ecstasy actually played a bigger role in the equation than the music.
"I tried for years to get the scene going, but this time it just worked." It worked when the drugs arrived.
